Liquid Dreams Sucks!Home of the Welcome back to the sad, sordid story of how we contracted with Patt Daugherty,
owner of Liquid Dreams Custom Pools of A sad update: while we've been off contemplating our navels, Patt
crawled out from under his rock and managed to fleece some more
folks in 2011. Dig this: http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15246613843/liquid-dreams-custom-pools-round-rock-1 Don't forget to chuckle at the hi-la-ri-ous recommendations at the bottom, which are so clearly fake -- who the heck writes like that! Also, check out the latest ripoff reports:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/Search/Body/liquid-dreams.aspx Be sure to add your own ripoff reports on the above site. Do your part to stop The Patt from doing this to anyone else. More: So why isn't this guy picking up trash next to the highway in an orange jumpsuit? It's surely just a matter of time. If he ripped you off, report it to the police, and call the District Attorney for your county! Otherwise, Patt will simply resurface in three years, when the nice big fat "F" he's earned at the BBB drops off, or he pays the otherwise useless BBB a big fat membership fee out of your pool budget to make them look the other way until the stench becomes unbearable. (This is also interesting -- if you used the BBB to vett Liquid Dreams, let them know that you are not pleased.) It's important to know that Texas does not regulate pool builders in the same way as other contractors, so don't look to the state for any kind of protection. Anyone can hang out a shingle and claim they are a pool builder even if they don't know their *ss from a hole in the ground. And that's what at least one of Patt's victims wound up with. Others were forced to finish their own pools while Patt went off to greener pastures, and they had to shell out more cash to fix deficiencies because the pools don't pass inspection. BTW, if you got ripped off, http://www.ripoffreport.com is a great place to vent. If you do so, shoot us an email at LiquidDreamsSucks@gmail.com and we'll link to it from here as well. But now, onto business: rather than recount the whole, sordid Patt-the-Builder saga again, we'll kick off the sharing with some public documents. To see all of these for yourself, go to this Travis County website, and enter LIQUID DREAMS in the into the second field (the one labeled "Grantee"). Under "Document Type", click "ABSTRACT OF JUDGMENT", then click the Search button. You'll see this (recent claims are highlighted):
If you have Java installed, click the paper icon to read the documents. Then press the back button, click "AFFIDAVIT OF CLAIM" and repeat. You'll see this:
Go ahead... we'll wait. Back yet? Good. And now, let's look at Williamson County -- the records weren't online the last time we looked. But they are now! Here's the linkety-link: https://deed.wilco.org/RealEstate/searchentry.aspx. Leave the document type blank to see all of these -- better take a deep breath:
Looks like the IRS threw a scare into the Patt. Many of these are folks who filed liens and obtained judgments against Liquid Dreams -- some are homeowners, some are subcontractors, some are media that he stiffed on advertising. While it doesn't address who might or might not have been paid back for this chicanery, we (the royal "we") know for a fact that there are folks on this list who are still whistling into the wind and don't mind being used as examples for this cautionary tale. In case there is any doubt that this is Patt's operation, now repeat the search operation by typing DAUGHERTY PATT into the second field (the one labeled "Grantee"). Click the Search button again. You'll see claims/liens/judgments made against the Great Patt himself. For those of you who don't have Java (which the Travis County website inexplicably requires), a few of the documents are below but you'll have to squint a bit or get out Grandpa's magnifying glass (you know, the one that looks like an old ship's steering wheel):
Ouch. I'll bet that smarts. Here are a couple more...
There are almost certainly additional arbitration judgments, as required by Patt's contracts. Unfortunately, "confirming" such judgments is largely useless -- throwing good money (hundreds of dollars in filing fees, thousands in attorney fees) after bad. You can't squeeze snot from a stone. Don't expect the Austin-Area Better Business Bureau (BBB) to be much help. They exist for the benefit of their business members. If you doubt, read this article that was recently published in Reader's Digest (which specifically mentions the Austin-area BBB) and prepare to quake with rage. The only way to put Patt out of business is to change state law restricting how much he can collect for each phase of a pool construction job. Woe be to whomever pays him up front. Well... that's enough for one night. Sign up with ChangeDetection.com below and you'll get a nifty automated email when this page is changed or updated.
